MF Ceiling System

The MF ceiling system can accept some degree of loading and is the more traditional form of application.

The system can utilise on or more layers of a wide range of boards, Wallboard,Moistureshield,Soundshield,Vapourshield,
Fireshield,Fire Moistureshield and Denseshield, depending on the performance required. The boards are fixed onto a lightweight metal framework of MF ceiling channels and MF perimeter channels.

The lightweight galvanised grid is suspended by either strap hangers or angle sections fixed to the structural soffit with soffit cleats.

The tapered edge boards can be taped and jointed using Jointing Compounds and Accessories. Alternatively, a 2 to 5mm skim coat with board finish can be applied to achieve a more traditional plaster finish.

Gypsum-based compounds.
The joint should be filled with joint filler or premium 90 with jointing tape embedded across the joint. Once this has fully dried, a finishing coat of premium 90 should be applied to the full 300mm width of the tapers, light sanding may be required.
Alternatively joints may be finished with 2 coats of air-drying compounds.
The tapered edge boards can be taped and jointed using jointing compounds and accessories.
Alternatively, a 2 to 5mm coat of Multicover board finish or universal board finish can be applied to achieve a more traditional plaster finish.
Air Drying Compounds
The joint should be filled with Joint Cement Super Smooth or Ready-Mix Joint Cement either by hand or by using a Pro-Taper automatic jointing machine which applies a measured amount of compound with the jointing tape.
After embedding the jointing tape with the initial coat, two further coats are required, progressing in width from 180mm to 250mm to 300mm to achieve full cover of the tapers, and allowing full air-drying between coats. The two finishing coats can be applied either by hand or flat box machines. The final finish may require light sanding when dry.

Insulating Laminates
Insulating laminates combine the qualities of wallboard or vapourshield with additional insulating materials to provide thermal and acoustic performance, plus condensation control where required.
They are perfect for internal applications in both new or refurbishment constructions to meet specified levels of thermal insulation and to satisfy Building Regulation requirements.

The use of highly efficient insulating materials enables insulating laminates to offer excellent thermal resistance whilst the thinnest appropriate section can be selected. This keeps costs down and minimises the loss of valuable room space.
